In 2017 he directed the 5th International Cello Continuo Clinc in Glasgow, and visited the Trigonale Festival in Southern Austria to direct a programme of sacred music. Performances also included Strauss Metamorphosen.
and he conducted the European Union Youth Orchestra in Mahler's First Symphony, the Malta Philharmonic, an orchestra at RCS led by Nicola Benedetti playing Sibelius Symphony no 2 and Brahms Violin Concerto,and Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra.
A long and fruitful partnership with the Meadows Chamber Orchestra came to an end in 2017 which included a cycle of Brahms Symphonies, a series of major Violin Concertos with Alexander Janiczek and a big chunk of Debussy's extraordinary opera Pelleas et Melisande.
In 2017, also in the world of opera, he conducted performances of Handel's Agrippina at the RCS Opera School.
